D. Foreman badeg #1. Original and exceptional fire depatrment steam fire engine foreman's badge, c. 1870's 1890's. Appears silver with dark blue enamel inlay, shield-shaped, ornate filigree 1 at center and finely engraved detail and design elements, foreman / p.

Back stamped with small braxmar / n. Y. Mark. This is part of my personal collection assembled over the past 25 years. This badge was purchased from an old estate in pontiac michigan, thus the assumption that this is from the pontiac fire department. C. G. Braxmar is a manufacturer and jeweler in new york city of police and fire department badges. Early badges, such as this one, as well as being badge #1, are rarely encountered.
